(Oil Boom) Molded Extruded Specialties - Div. of Frank Novak & Sons, Inc. was able to design and build an oil containment boom for the petroleum industry. This engineered solution helped contain international environmental disaster caused by BP Oil Spill. Due to the serious conditions of deployment of this device, the oil boom needed to meet all of our client's product specifications and be ready for speedy turnaround within a 72 hour rush deadline. The oil boom was engineered to be able to withstand salt-water and oil exposure and uphold during constant ocean movement. The oil boom was easy to clean, deploy, and maintain and could be stored outdoors. Possessing no sharp edges, an end-user simply needs heavy-duty gloves in order to operate and deploy this device.  Using our advanced machining processes, which included CNC molding, wire forming, plastic extrusion molding, Haas automation dual axis mill, Bridgeport, surface grinder, and Fadal CNC equipment, Yamazen CNC and Citizen Swiss milling. In addition, the product was also powder coated and anodized with a hard coating. Providing our clients comprehensive service, from designing and testing to full manufacturing, we were able to produce oil booms that satisfied high ASTM standards, military specifications, and client expectations for quality.
